IUI is done in scenarios where there is one or more of the following - unexplained infertility, mild endometriosis, issues with the cervix or cervical mucus, low sperm count, decreased sperm motility, problems with ejaculation or erection, same-sex couples wishing to conceive, a single woman desire to have a baby , a couple wanting to avoid passing on a genetic defect from the male partner to the child. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder common among women during their reproductive age. Women with PCOS may have irregular or prolonged menstrual periods or excess male hormone (androgen) levels. The ovaries may develop numerous small follicles, which leads to failure in the regular release of eggs. This condition causes difficulty in conceiving. The hormonal imbalance is the main reason for PCOS and could lead to infertility .
